HimaHimaSeijin Scans is primarily a one-man effort with a lot of helpers and volunteer work. Generally we do projects that we wanna do, regardless of genre, content, etc. Good porn is also within the acceptable bounds.

Unfortunately, being a one-man thing, we’re sorely lacking in a regular photo editor. While I normally do redraws myself or ask someone else to pitch in, it’s simply much better to just have someone on hand who can do a much better job, much faster.

So that’s what we need. Someone who can grab a whole bunch of pages, remove the text, and redraw what’s missing. No previous experience is required. While we do have a pretty high standard of quality: no messy drawings, no poorly aligned screentone, and no applying stroke on text and just slapping it on the page like so many other groups out there, we welcome anyone interested as long as they have a desire to constantly improve. Ultimately, this group aims for a near-commerical level of scanlation output, through a small group.

Other groups may have deadlines, but this group will never have a hard deadline: we do it the right way, no matter how long it takes. There’s no clocking in, no required hours per week, and when work comes along, we do it at our own pace. Of course, you can’t just sign on and do nothing forever. Scanlating takes time and effort – and most importantly, RABU.

Requirements/workflow for an editor:

• You need Photoshop. Like, seriously. Not GIMP. Even Photoshop 7.0 works
• PSDs with already-translated pages that need to be redrawn will be passed on (through dropbox I suppose)
• Redraw the various bits that need to be fixed on a separate layer (do not draw directly on the base image) to a level of imperceptibility (ergo, it doesn’t *look* redrawn)
  
• Pass back the new PSDs
• Again, no hard deadlines, but don’t let work pile up without a reason for too long

Typesetters can also feel free to apply. Normally, I typeset as I translate. But, if you are pretty good at typesetting, then go ahead and apply since I’m not really the best at that.

Projects open for editors:

• Koi Koi Seitokai (one final chapter before it’s dropped unless you’re willing to take on all the edit work)
• Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate
• Various doujin that have yet to be released
